Refugee Support- Transportation and Food Delivery
ORGANIZATION: Portland Refugee Support Group
Please visit the new page to apply.
Portland Refugee Support Group (PRSG) is looking for drivers to help transport refugee families and deliver basic necessities! It's difficult for some refugee families to participate in community events and make it to appointments without reliable transportation. PRSG fills these gaps and picks up where federally contracted resettlement agencies leave off by fostering true self-sufficiency with programs centered on housing, employment, education, legal, and transportation services. Volunteers engage with the familyand exchange knowledge, culture, language, and perspective. We currently work with over 100 client families from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Burma, and Egypt. As a driver, your commitment is dependent on your availability, location, and the organization's needs at the time. You are able to pick up assignments as we send them out to the driver group.
By volunteering with PRSG, you will learn about the issues facing refugees and asylum seekers and how local benefit agencies impact refugees. You will also have the opportunity to make long-lasting relationships with refugee families, other volunteers, and make a positive impact in your community .
