Parents and guardians can expect the highest quality learning and care for their children ages 16 months to 5 years with year-round enrollment at Wilder’s Child Development Center (CDC). Our staff and teachers continually recognize and strive to meet the diverse needs, abilities, interests, and cultures of children and families, where each person is valued and respected as a contributor in our classroom environment. You can join this dynamic team as a summer fellow!
About 90 percent of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5! This means it’s the perfect time to help kiddos learn their ABCs, 123s and so much more. This opportunity is for anyone who cares about young children’s social, emotional and cognitive development to help provide educational activities and support kids one-to-one and in small group settings. In partnership with AmeriCorps, we will train you to make an incredible impact!
Qualifications needed:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, etc.
- Experience and/or passion for working with kids.
- Ability to speak a second language highly desired, but not required.
- Individuals from underserved communities and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

Service member benefits:
- Bi-weekly living stipend of $1,100 provided through AmeriCorps/Ampact ($6,600 total for 300 hours of service).
- Tutors who successfully complete their terms of service will receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for educational costs at eligible post-secondary institutions or to repay qualified student loans.
- Members serving full-time are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
- Members serving full-time may qualify to receive child-care assistance.
- Receive high-quality trainings. No experience? No problem! Your Early Learning Corps service will begin with training to teach you everything you need to know and support you every step of the way.
- Connect with local students and help them grow through personalized activities.
- Learn more about the inner workings of a preschool.
