Description

Our mission is to honor life and offer compassion to individuals and their families, when facing a life-limiting illness. Volunteers provide support to patients through companionship, household assistance, caregiver respite relief, and may also make tuck in calls to patients and families in accordance with their care plan. Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our care team; they, while making a difference in the lives of others. Volunteers gain hands on experience that can be used both personally and professionally.

Qualifications

Volunteers must possess the ability to actively listen and communicate compassionately with patients, families and caregivers. They must be able to work well as a part of our interdisciplinary team. Volunteers must possess emotional maturity and sensitivity while also respecting the beliefs of the patients and their families. Volunteers must be dependable and have reliable transportation to ensure they are able to complete scheduled visits. Volunteers should also have an understanding of the hospice philosophy, goals and be willing to participate in continuing volunteer education requirements.

Please Note:

No experience is necessary as training is provided to all volunteers prior to the start of their service. We service patients throughout the Metro Atlanta Area and volunteers are assigned to patient's in a area that is most convenient to them. Visits are completed on a weekly basis and volunteers have the flexibility to choose the day and times that work best for their schedule.
