The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) traverses the Tyringham Cobble, a conserved property owned and managed by the Trustees of Reservations. Sitting in the middle of the small village of Tyringham, it is actively supported by townspeople, many of whom visit its trails regularly (including the A.T.). The property offers three excellent viewpoints of the community and the valley below. A.T. volunteers will work with community members to keep these viewpoints open and maintain the A.T.'s route through the property.

Join fellow volunteers on Saturday, April 29 at 9 AM. Opportunities are available for morning-only half-day work assignments. Families are welcome. Work will include using hand tools to cut brush and small saplings. The hike to the worksite is easy to moderately strenuous with a short climb to the high point. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes. Bring work gloves, lunch/snacks, water, insect repellant, and sunscreen.

Description

Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).

Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.

There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
