Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Exchange Family Center! We are a nonprofit organization that provides free, bilingual counseling, coaching, and training to the children, families, and childcare providers of Durham County. In Spring of 2024, we are hosting our first annual pickleball tournament, the Bull City Pickleball Classic, to support our organization and we are looking for volunteers to help bring our vision to life!
Purpose: This committee is a subcommittee of Exchange Family Center’s Resource Development Committee. This committee shall work to put together EFC’s pickleball tournament and raise donations and sponsorships towards the event. The committee’s current focus is obtaining monetary sponsorships for the tournament.
Event Information:
What: 3-day all ages pickleball tournament
Where: Bethesda Park in Durham
When: April 12-14, 2024
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm and passion for the mission and vision of Exchange Family Center.
- A reputation for integrity, the ability to keep commitments, and willingness to learn.
- Able to dedicate time to committee meetings and assisting with creating fundraising materials.
- Good communication skills, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
- Connections with and knowledge of Durham and Triangle-area businesses and residents a plus
Members:
- May have worked as a volunteer previously.
- Have good people/social skills and be able to work with all kinds of people.
- Be familiar with Durham County resources and potential sources of sponsorships is a plus.
- Understand EFC philosophy and have the desire to promote it.
- Event planning experience a plus.
- Committee members will be expected to attend meetings bi-weekly or as determined by the committee chair based on present needs of the organization. Meetings will be mainly hosted over Zoom with occasional in-person meetings.
- Willingness to take on tasks as needed.
- Experience with pickleball is a plus.
The Committee will:
- Find potential vendors to provide services at the event (food, music, swag, etc.)
- Gather items for and create baskets for the silent auction that will take place at the event.
- Scout and contact potential sponsorship opportunities
*At this time, the committee is mainly focused on securing monetary sponsorships for the pickleball tournament. If you have an interest in connecting or have existing connections with local businesses and resources, we encourage you to join our team!

Description
We do what we can to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved. At times, children are at risk for abuse and neglect. Exchange Family Center has been involved in the community for 25 years, helping families and preventing child abuse and neglect.
An IRS certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Exchange Family Center makes a difference in the lives of children, adolescents and their families through the provision of family support, counseling, case management, group counseling, education, and supportive services.
These services are provided through our three main programs, including Early Childhood Outreach (EChO), Family Support Program (FSP), and the Parenting of Adolescents (POA) program.

REQUIREMENTS
- The committee holds one, hour-long meeting every other Monday at 6pm. As the event gets closer we may schedule more meetings. After the event has passed we will have less regularly scheduled meetings.
