This is an in-person volunteer opportunity with students in the greater San Lorenzo area.
Community Education Partnerships (CEP) provides individualized tutoring and mentoring services to pre-K through 12th grade students experiencing housing insecurity and once stably housed. CEP Tutors are a consistent and caring presence in the life of our students, fostering a deep love of learning and ensuring they are set up for academic success.
As we work alongside San Lorenzo Unified School District, we are seeking volunteers to join our team of in-person tutors for one-on-one tutoring. Social distancing, masks, and enhanced hygiene measures are required. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated and have completed a 2 hour Mandated Reporter Training. Students’ families are also required to be fully vaccinated in order to be eligible for in-person tutoring. Training, tools, and virtual options are provided.
As a volunteer tutor with CEP you will:
- Work 1-on-1 with a student for at least one hour a week
- Provide homework support and academic tutoring
- Help our students develop their literacy skills
- Have fun!
No teaching experience required and anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer (16+ with parent/guardian support). Session times are flexible and all of the necessary training is provided. Students range from pre-K through high school and are matched with tutors based on age and grade preferences.
Those who speak Spanish are encouraged to apply!
