This opportunity is open to current high school students who currently reside in NYC and NJ. Note that NYC residents must be able to commute to downtown Newark, New Jersey once every quarter (January, March, June). Virtual meetings (Zoom) are held on the last Thursday of each month at 7pm EST until June. You will need to download the Free BAND app which is our online working platform.
YPC members, along with our High School students, will help us promote, strengthen and potentially lead current programs and create new ones. We are looking for members who have skills/interest in our current programs which include: basketball, cheerleading, hip-hop dance, STEM activities/competitions, and sorority AND/OR interest in the programs we are trying to create which include step, drumline, drum majors, drill team and fraternity.
YPC will be also be involved with:
- Event planning and Support in Newark: Legacy Showdown (1/25); STEM Mayhem (3/22); NBA G-League Game (3/29); NYC Dance Parade (5/18) and the Ruey Classic (6/21).
- Doing marketing, research, recruiting, grant writing support and fundraising.
- Assist current teams during practices, events and competitions as available.
When you reach out, please tell us a little about you and please specify WHICH of the current or future clubs you have an interest in (this is a requirement or we will not respond). You don't need to have the experience - only the interest. Our first meeting will be Thursday, January 16th (after this, meetings will be the final Thursday of the month).

Description
Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
