Volunteering together is a great team-building activity! We welcome businesses, organizations, faith and community groups to volunteer at our warehouse, with our Mobile Food Pantries and through food drives. The Foodbank of Southern California has many opportunities that align with your philanthropic goals and provide your staff a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children, adults, seniors and families.

There are team volunteer opportunities on-site at our warehouse and our mobile pantries. Volunteers in the warehouse help to sort and assemble Family Food Boxes to be distributed to families through after-school programs. At our mobile pantries, volunteers help to distribute food directly in the community. Shifts are available weekdays. We welcome groups of 4-15 volunteers.

About Foodbank of Southern California

Location:

1444 San Francisco Ave., Long Beach, CA 90813, US

Mission Statement

Serving Long Beach and Los Angeles County, The Foodbank provides healthy, nutritious food to the community’s hungry residents to ensure that no individual goes hungry, not even for a single day. As long as there are hungry children, families and seniors in our community, The Foodbank of Southern California intends to be to major force in the fight against hunger.

Description

The Foodbank provides nearly a million pounds a week of nutritious food to our nonprofit partner agencies. These community-based organizations address hunger through both emergency and non-emergency food programs such as shelters for abused children and women, crises centers, community centers, day care centers for children and seniors, senior centers, emergency box programs, soup kitchens, and food pantries. The Foodbank works in partnership with each agency to learn about the dietary needs, cultural protocols and acclimation issues of those they serve.
