Mission
To honor life and offer compassion to individuals and their families, when facing a life-limiting illness.
Description
Patient Volunteers provide friendly visits to hospice patients in their homes or long-term healthcare facilities, to provide companionship and support both the patient and their families. If you are searching for a way to make a difference in the lives of others, you belong here. Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our care team. Based on your interests and preferences, receive specific volunteer training to help improve the quality of life for others. From providing companionship at a patient’s bedside, to running errands, and from assisting with administrative duties to creating gifts for patients and their families, one of our volunteer coordinators will help you discover the best fit for you.
Qualifications
Volunteers must possess the ability to actively listen and communicate compassionately with patients, families, and caregivers. They must be able to work well as a part of our interdisciplinary team. They must also possess emotional maturity and sensitivity while also respecting the beliefs of the patients and their families. Volunteers should be dependable and have reliable transportation to ensure they are able to complete scheduled visits.
