About HOSPICE OF LAURENS COUNTY INC

Location:

1304 SPRINGDALE DR, CLINTON, SC 29325, US

Mission Statement

To provide physical, spiritual, and emotional comfort to patients and their families dealing with a terminal illness.

Description

Hospice of Laurens County (HOLC) was established in May 1987 by a group of volunteers who identified a need for Hospice in this community. HOLC is a not-for-profit organization caring for all patients regardless of their ability to pay for services. In 2008 HOLC opened the Hospice House that serves patients and their families that cannot be cared for in their home or choose not to. It is a peaceful home-like environment that provides areas for the patient and the family to spend their final months, weeks, days or even hours together. Hospice offers comfort care rather than curative treatment. Hospice care focuses on the quality of life and death is viewed as a natural process; we do not hasten nor postpone this natural course. HOLC takes a team approach; this team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, aides, volunteers, and chaplains. On call nursing is available to provide care and support on a 24 hour a day, seven day a week basis. HOLC provides medication needed for pain and symptom management related to the terminal illness, as well as supplies and medical equipment such as hospital beds and oxygen when needed for comfort care. Support for the caregiver is provided throughout the process and bereavement services are provided for at least 13 months after the death of a patient.
