Mission Statement
Brunswick Naval Aviation Museum's mission is to preserve the rich heritage of NAS Brunswick (NASB) by honoring the tens of thousands of men and women who served here, to educate the public about the history of maritime patrol aviation and NASB, and to maintain a memorial for those NASB based airmen who gave their lives in service to their country.
Description
The museum was established in 2009. We are a non-profit educational organization governed by a Board of Directors founded to develop, operate and maintain the museum and memorial gardens. We have acquired the former chapel on the former naval air station and have renovated it to make the former nave our main exhibit gallery, and other spaces for office and storage spaces, but preserving the Memorial and Friendship Gardens and retaining a small memorial chapel. We are now embarked on a $3 million capital project renovating and bringing it up to code to house our planned world class exhibits and educational programs. We are an all-volunteer organization at present but are at the point of becoming a real museum and need paid staff. Nonetheless we still need volunteers in all phases of our operations.
