We are searching for volunteers to assist us in our Community Garden. This will be a brand new garden for the Eastside Community Action Center. We hope to engage the community by leasing free garden plots to local residents, involving the youth in our programs through work days, lessons on the growth cycle, harvesting, and nutrition, and utilizing some of the produce for meals in our after school program.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Work as part of a team, with direction from our Garden Leader
* Greet any community members in the garden courteously, making them feel welcome to be
visiting or participating in the garden
* Encourage appropriate behavior from garden visitors if necessary
* Completion of basic garden tasks, such as weeding, composting, planting, harvesting, pruning, watering,
landscaping, etc
* Surveying the garden for work that needs doing
* Tidying up trash or tools that have been left out
* Assisting with development and adherence to annual planting calendar
* Assisting with volunteer-coordination for large groups along with the Garden Leader
No experience necessary, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and help us to have a successful growing season.
Shifts are flexible. We will try our best to cater to your schedule.
