Dear Potential Volunteer,

At Gentiva Hospice our volunteer program is a vital part of our team. The program is required to have 5% of our total patient census in volunteer hours for the program to remain viable. Our goal is to have 10 volunteers by the end of the first quarter (March 31 st). If the program can recruit the volunteers as needed by this time, we will be able to meet our required percentage.

This program is beneficial to patients’ mental health and well-being. Our volunteers have a great way of keeping up patients spirits during a difficult time in their lives. We are always looking for new friendly faces within the community to join our program. We utilize medical and other students that need volunteer hours for their specific curriculum. As well as church and senior groups within the community. Once an individual has decided to become a volunteer, the Volunteer Coordinator will take them through the process of joining our team!

To become a volunteer, you will be interviewed by the coordinator and must provide references which will be contacted. All volunteers are required to have a back ground check and drug screen. Volunteer candidates will be screened for TB and must be vaccinated for COVID-19. A copy of the candidate’s identification and auto insurance will also be obtained by the coordinator. Gentiva requires a 12-hour compliance training, which is done on-site with breakfast and/or lunch provided. The above testing and training are paid fully by Gentiva.
