GARDENING VOLUNTEER
POSITION SUMMARY:
Join the Gardening Team & plant and maintain gardens around the Lussier Community Education Center. In this role, volunteers will help cultivate grounds that are well-cared for and welcoming. Volunteers who enjoy being outdoors, working with their hands, and being creative will thrive in this role.
COMMITMENT
This position has flexible hours and we will work with your schedule. Having one consistent day/time per week to assist in the gardens is preferred.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform gardening duties including weeding, digging, pruning, planting, sweeping paths, poisoning weeds, cleaning, general repairs and ad hoc duties as assigned.
- Help maintain the gardens and grounds in a good condition together with various displays of plants.
- Assist with planning and development of garden and grounds.
- Maintain herb garden and harvest herbs when ready.
- Optional: assist with recruiting volunteers to the Garden Team.
- Optional: assist with outreach to local nurseries and businesses to obtain flowers and plants.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding and appreciation of socio-economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse populations.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Basic gardening skills and knowledge to be able to carry out the jobs as requested.
REPORTS TO: Community Engagement Manager
