We are looking for volunteer tutors to assist adult ESL in reading, writing, American customs and culture.
Potential tutors attend 4 training sessions over 2 weeks for a total of 12 hours. We provide support for tutors and learners as they develop learning plans and start on their learning journeys.
What makes a good tutor for adult learners?
Must be at least 18 years old.
Have at least a high school diploma and read at a 12th grade level or higher.
Have a solid command of English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and be able to be easily understood by an native English speaker.
Have the ability to communicate clearly.

The mission of the Literacy Council of Norristown is to improve lives and strengthen families in Greater Norristown and Montgomery County by providing adult literacy and English language programs.
Description
The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County citizens to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills.
Since then LCN has grown to meet the increasing need for our programs and services. Today we continue to equip students with the reading, writing, math and English language skills they need to access better employment opportunities, access better education and training opportunities, and better participate in the Montgomery County community.
