Community Judge for Speech and Debate Tournament

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: COLORADO FORENSIC SPEECH & DEBATE

Our local forensics club, WD40, will soon host its annual Continental Divide Challenge from March 22-25 at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood. Over 150 middle school and high school students from across the country will compete in 12 different speech events, ranging from dramatic interpretation to current events analysis and original platform speeches, and three different styles of debate: Lincoln-Douglas, Team Policy, and Parliamentary.

WD40 is now canvassing the community searching for diverse volunteers to serve as judges at this tournament. No experience is necessary -- just the willingness to listen to the speeches and/or debates and to provide written feedback on ballots. There will be orientation sessions before each round to prepare judges and to answer questions.

Please consider investing in these students as they learn to communicate effectively and debate critically but graciously.

To honor your time and effort, we will offer our community judges complimentary snacks in our hospitality suite. And, if the timing works out after you're done judging, please enjoy a complimentary meal in the CCU cafeteria catered by Bon Appétit.

We have listed the shifts with our greatest needs, but there are additional shifts available that may be more convenient for your schedule.

For more information about the Continental Divide Challenge or to register as a judge, please visit https://cdc.homeschooldebate.net/community or contact cdc.judges@gmail.com.
