Mission Statement
Mountain View Lions Club Foundation serves a uniquely multicultural neighborhood, with a particular focus on service for fellow Alaskans who, because of cost, cannot access the competent and compassionate health care they need.
Description
Mountain View Lions Club Foundation has a proven track record of active support for community health. Since 2009, we have owned, developed, and managed a multi-use 11-acre public park in Mountain View (in northeast Anchorage, Alaska).
We facilitate many free healthy outdoor opportunities (Kids’ Day in the Park, Polar Little League, community picnics) as well as providing full-time access to pavilions, baseball fields, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, rock climbing, and a sand volleyball area for the most diverse community in the United States.
For years, our group has also coordinated Lions Club vision screenings across the Anchorage Bowl.
In addition to the multi-use park and vision screening outreach, our Lions group helps schools with reading programs, providing winter clothing for children, and during Red Ribbon week (largest drug-use prevention campaign in the country). We also support Leader Dogs for the Blind, Camp Abilities for Alaska (one-week developmental sports camp for children ages 9 to 19 who are blind or visually impaired), the Anchorage Joint Sight committee (providing financial assistance to Anchorage Area residents with a financial need associated with sight), and other vision-related projects.
We embrace our role in facilitating access to these free services for Alaskans.CAUSE AREAS
