Corner Shower and Laundry in Corktown is a non-profit service organization providing unhoused guests with a fresh start. Our mission is to offer a clean, safe space and laundry facility where those in need in our Detroit community can shower, use a private toilet, and have their clothes laundered. We are looking for people who have the passion to make a difference in the lives of others.
A Corner Shower and Laundry volunteer needs to be reliable, dedicated, and full of kindness. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 7 am-12 pm, shifts can be broken down into 2-4 hour blocks, whatever time you can give. A volunteer works through the guidance of the associate staff. The responsibilities could include assisting with the sign-in and flow of guests, cleaning showers, assisting with washing, drying, and folding clothes, or labeling guests’ clothing bags.
