Position: Volunteer Creative Arts Engagement Coordinator
Organization: The Chrysalis Program
Location: 5017 South Hermitage Ave, 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL
Time Commitment: 2nd Saturdays (10 am - 1 pm), Summer Camp (July 1 - August 4, 8 am - 2 pm), Annual Retreat, Flexible Hours for Planning
Position Overview:
The Chrysalis Program is seeking a passionate and creative individual to serve as a Volunteer Creative Arts Engagement Coordinator. This role is central to our mission of achieving mental wellness through the expressive and therapeutic power of creative arts. The coordinator will lead engaging sessions during 2nd Saturdays, Summer Camp, and our Annual Retreat, creating an environment that fosters self-expression, personal growth, and community connection.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Workshop Planning:
- Develop and plan creative arts workshops that align with the program's mission and objectives.
- Incorporate various art forms, such as visual arts, music, drama, and writing, to promote mental wellness.
Facilitation:
- Lead engaging and inclusive sessions during 2nd Saturdays, Summer Camp, and the Annual Retreat.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for participants to express themselves.
Resource Coordination:
- Coordinate and organize necessary materials and resources for creative arts activities.
- Liaise with suppliers, volunteers, and participants to ensure a smooth experience.
Participant Engagement:
- Interact with program participants, encouraging self-discovery and promoting mental health awareness.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging through creative engagement.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other program coordinators and volunteers to integrate creative arts into the overall program structure.
- Attend planning meetings to contribute ideas and coordinate activities with the broader program.
Qualifications:
- Passion for the arts and a belief in its therapeutic benefits.
- Experience in facilitating creative arts workshops or activities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for diverse participants.
- Commitment to the mission and values of The Chrysalis Program.

The Chrysalis Program creates safe spaces for girls to heal, learn and grow by offering Wellness Workshops, Counseling, Life Skill Classes, Creative Arts Lessons, Parent Classes, Enrichment Field Trips, Mentorship and Community Events.
The Chrysalis Program is unique because it takes a holistic approach to empowering; teaching both life skills and coping skills that gradually improves the quality of life for participants and their families.
