We are in need of greeters in our NEW Overland Park Hillcrest thrift store. Our greeters are responsible for welcoming shoppers into our store, relaying any sales or specials in the store each day and answering questions any customers may have. We would also love our greeters be able to help with signing customers up for our Loyalty Program as well. These volunteers help maintain a welcome environment for customers to shop with us and purchase items, and thus, maintaining cash flow to provide our transitional housing for those in need. Volunteers can work a morning, afternoon, or evening shift and we are flexible around any schedule that works for you. The store is open Monday - Friday 10-8p and Saturday from 10-6p and we have merchandiser shifts available each day. Come be a part of a team that is combating homelessness in the greater KC metro area, your volunteer hours will help support our mission to provide housing and the power of community to those in need!

About Hillcrest Transitional Housing
Location:
738 N 31st St, Kansas City, KS 66102, US
Mission Statement
To be a transitional housing program providing a Christian environment that helps homeless families become self-supportive, self reliant contributors to society.
Description
Transitional Housing's primary program focus is moving families from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days. In exchange for rent/utility-free housing, residents are required by written agreement to work full time, obey the program guidelines, and attend volunteer taught classes in life skills, employment, community living, and budgeting. In addition to housing and life-skills counseling Hillcrest provides the following through a network of community support: auto repair/donation, food pantry, medical assistance, dental work, GED classes, haircuts, glasses, school clothes, work uniforms, etc. Although Hillcrest Transitional Housing provides a supportive Christian environment, it places no religious requirement on any resident, and no volunteer, resident, or donor is discriminated against because of race, creed, ethnicity, or religion
