Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. Seeks Applicants for its Board of Directors and Board Development Committee

The Board of Directors guides the council’s strategic vision and is comprised of volunteers and members of GSHH and Girl Scouts of the USA.

MONTGOMERY, NY, July 8, 2024- Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. (GSHH) is currently accepting applications from adults with professional experience in accounting, law, property management, and DEI/RJ fields to join its Board of Directors. Applications are due by Tuesday, October 15, 2024 and applicants will be contacted and interviewed by GSHH’s Board Development Committee (BDC). If selected, will be added to the slate of candidates presented at the council’s 2025 Annual Meeting on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson’s geographical footprint includes seven counties throughout the Hudson Valley - Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Sullivan. The Board Development Committee recommends applicants to have knowledge of the area and its communities through either living or working within the council’s borders.

Each year, GSHH’s Board Development Committee compiles a slate of candidates to present to the Board of Directors and voting members of the council to fill open spaces on its Board and BDC with individuals who best meet the needs of the Board and the council. Board Offices (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) are elected to a two-year term and Directors-at-Large and members of the BDC are elected to a three-year term.

All terms will begin on March 1, 2025 after the results of the election are certified and elected members are sworn in. Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. (GSHH) was formed in October of 2007 as a result of merging five area Girl Scout councils in the mid and lower Hudson River Valley of New York State. Since the early days of Girl Scouting, Girl Scouts has been providing girls with extraordinary programming throughout the region. Currently, we serve over 20,000 girls in grades K through 12 and 10,000 adult volunteers. In Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson's geographic area, there are over 2,000 troops and groups providing Girl Scout program activities on a regular basis. GSHH is committed to providing Girl Scouting to as many girls as possible in our jurisdiction all year 'round. GSHH is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of New York.
