We currently have 2 locations that can accommodate up to 6 volunteers per group. During your shift your group can assist with kennel cleaning, animal socialization (cats and dogs under 6 months) or be assigned a project such as building maintenance, landscaping, or washing windows. Available projects will be discussed in advance to match the capabilities, experience, and needs of the group. Note:Dog walking is not available to groups, but at the end of the project our staff will provide a time for animal interaction. Groups should be dressed and prepared to complete tasks that are primarily labor-intensive/outside. Other opportunities for large groups can include activities such as:
- Donation Drive
- Supply drive
- Making and delivering enrichment items or other crafts for our rescue pets.
- Hosting or sponsoring an adoption event at your place of business.

Description
San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012 to help address alarming euthanasia rates in the city. SAPA! is unique-it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.
Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 64,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
San Antonio Pets Alive! by the Numbers:
- Has saved more than 64,000 lives since its inception in 2012
- Rescues around 6,000 animals from euthanasia every year
- Transports more than 1,000 to new lives annually
- Gives a second change to more than 500 puppies suffering from Parvovirus each year
- Saves 1,000 orphaned kittens through its neonatal program each year
