Sign up to be a co-host to our Makerspace during open hours (public hours) and learn about a broad range of maker skills.
The tasks are pretty simple. Say hi to people as they come in, give tours of our space as needed, help people find tools and supplies, direct any questions you don't have answers for to our host.
Our volunteers who host are often wanting to get some things done to improve the space. Having someone help keep an eye on who comes in is pretty simple, yet really helpful.
Being a place with such a broad amount of making happening there is an equally broad range of ways to volunteer. This is just the easy entry point to getting involved in making things and helping out. Just being around you will learn about 3d printing, electronics, laser cutting, sewing, machining, vinyl cutters and more.
You can work on your own projects during co-hosting as long as you are OK with some distractions as new guests come in.
You would not need to commit to the entire shift, having a few hours of coverage will be a big help. You would only have to help a couple times per month to make it worth our having you help.
If you are interested in this I'll schedule a time to meet and show you the space to get an idea if you are interesting in helping out. You can ask any questions you have via email or when we meet.

Mission Statement
HeatSync Labs is an Arizona nonprofit organization aimed at empowering engineers, artists, and inventors to push the limits of technology beyond its intended use. We host public hours (that are posted on our calendar). The concept for HeatSync Labs came out of the desire for a group of Arizona locals to get together and continue working on projects after academic life. We wanted a place to share tools, space, and ideas with fellow hackers and makers.
Description
HeatSync Labs started first became a non-profit in 2009 with a group of people who wanted to eventually have a physical space to share access to tools and resources. We have since achieved that goal and grown in the size of our space and the number of tools we provide access to.
We have 3D-printing, electronics, laser cutters, machine shop, jewelry making, screen printing, sewing, vinyl cutter, welding, LEGO, bicycle repair station, biochemistry lab, and wood shop.
We have open hours 4 days a week for anyone who wants to come work on making things. Part of the purpose of having an active account on Volunteermatch is for more interested people to find out about us. I'd encourage you to come check out many of our free events, paid classes, or just open hours. Definitely reach out if you have an interest in any of our volunteer opportunities, but also consider the much broader range of possible ways you can volunteer in such a creative community.
