Nearly one thousand NYC-area high school students are participating in the 2023 Quality of Life INNOVATIONS (QLI) program and competition. These 9-12 grade students identify a pressing issue impacting their community, conduct background and field research, and create an innovative and feasible solution which they implement. Their inspiring projects make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers, prepare them for college, and in addition, could earn them post-secondary scholarships.

Volunteer judges read and rate student projects via our online platform according to a rubric. The 8 top projects move forward to the Final Orals Round where these Finalists present their work and compete for up to $10,000 in college scholarships. Past winning projects include Diminishing the Stigma of LGBTQ+ Student Mental Health with GSAs and Transition Closets, The Effect of Creative Writing on Teens' Mood, and Virtual Care Packages for Foster Youth. Top themes of this year's projects are education, health, and the environment.

If you are interested in judging the 28th Annual Quality of Life INNOVATIONS Competition, please email your resume to jtarantino@wise-ny.org by April 1, 2023. We thank you for your support!
