Volunteering at the Cat Haven is all about teaching and working with the public. It is an excellent opportunity to be involved with the conservation of wild cats, introduce volunteers to the jobs associated with a zoological facility, and provide work experience.

Volunteer docents help us by giving public guided tours, running the gift shop, cleaning, and other miscellaneous projects like painting or landscaping. As a docent, we require that you work 4 days a month until you are able to give tours independently. Afterwards, docents are able to volunteer as often they would like.

Docents typically work about 8 hours each day they volunteer from 9:30 until we close (~5pm) and they must be 16 years or older. We are looking for volunteers who are reliable, enthusiastic about wild cats and conservation, and comfortable working with the public. When giving tours, docents must be able to control large crowds while interacting positively with the public. Docents will share anecdotes, answer questions, talk about the conservation projects Cat Haven supports, and maintain all safety protocol.

No previous experience is required! Apply online: https://cathaven.com/take-action-and-get-involved-with-project-survival-cat-haven/volunteer/

About Project Survival

Location:

38257 E KINGS CANYON ROAD, DUNLAP, CA 93621, US

Mission Statement

Project Survival's Cat Haven is an innovative park dedicated to the preservation of wild cats. It specializes in education and is engaged in both captive and range country conservation. It is this link to the conservation of cats in their native habitat which makes the work of the Cat Haven especially meaningful. While some of the cats at Project Survival have been orphaned in the wild or have needed to be re-homed due to varying circumstances, we do not call ourselves a sanctuary. We provide excellent homes for all of our cats but our focus is to educate people about the plight of endangered cat species, and to raise funds for the conservation projects in the wild. Working to mitigate problems between cats and people in the wild, these projects are vital to protecting and conserving these beautiful animals. Project Survival is a 501 c 3 non profit organization.

Description

We are an education and conservation facility which is also open to the public. We provide guided tours to introduce visitors to our cats and educate them on the cat species and what life is like for their wild cousins. We also have classroom facilities for school fieldtrips. We are an almost 100% volunteer staff as we focus on sending as much money as possible out to the cat conservationists working to save wild cats in the wild.

Extra sets of hands always make the job easier and you will have the opportunity to spend your time around some of the most unique and most endangered cats in the world.
