We are seeking compassionate and personable volunteers to partner with the patient experience team at MEETH! MEETH is well known for their surgery center in which we see about 70-100 patients a day. Our patients go home the same say as their surgery. We are only open monday through friday. Please contact me directly if you are interested! Kdonohue2@northwell.edu

Responsibilities Include:

  • Interacts with all the patients and family members for any comfort care needs (ice, water, tea blankets).
  • Check in on our patients , offer some reassurance or an ear to listen to
  • Assists the Nursing staff with retrieving supplies and amenities for the patients.
  • Support staff by answering the phone and answering call bells.
  • Escort family members and visitors to their destination throughout the facility.
  • Work with confidential documents and records: shred confidential documentation; assemble patient charts, assessment packets, and family packets and break down old charts.

Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital (MEETH) is a specialized center that focuses on high-quality care for eye, ear and throat conditions-but that's not all we do. We provide advanced treatments for thousands of patients each year, offering a range of services and expert care.

And to say we’re pioneers is an understatement. We have an extraordinary history of firsts. We opened the first allergy clinic in 1916, performed the first modern cataract surgery in 1967, opened the first cochlear implant center in 1983, and most recently, performed the first insertion of the Baha Attract hearing device in 2013. And that’s just to name a few.

MEETH highlights include:

  • Ambulatory services in ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), orthopedics, podiatry, plastic surgery, urology, vascular surgery, gynecology, dental surgery and general surgery
  • 17 operating rooms equipped with the latest technology for surgery
