During COVID, patients dying alone in facilities broke my heart.

This program will make sure that doesn't happen.

N.O.D.A. (no one dies alone) is a national program.
We will sit vigil with patients that don't have families, whose family is traveling to come see them, or families that need a break. We hold their hands, play soft music, read, and just give our presence so they do not feel alone.
This takes place the last 48-24 hours of life. Each person takes a shift for a couple of hours. Once the program has been initiated, I will reach out and ask what availability you have, and YOU SET YOUR TIME!

  • The intent of a healing presence to help patients feel they are not abandoned. This does not necessarily mean a patient is never without a Compassionate Companion at bedside.
  • It is the connection and care that we bring into the patient’s life that matters, so it can truly be said "They were not alone." This is an emotional, spiritual, and relational reality - not just physical.

Requirements:

  • Background check
  • Drug Screen
  • TB testing
  • Hospice and N.O.D.A. training
  • Proof of COVID vaccination

all will be provided by Freedom Hospice.

I know this opportunity is not for everyone. This takes a special kind of volunteer.
Please feel free to call me with any questions.
