Join Hands Of Hope As They Distribute Food Boxes & Hot Lunches To Those In Need In The Greater Edison Area. Volunteers Can Be Expected To Help Load Bags Into Clients Car, Carry Food Bags From Storage To The Distribution Area, Sort/Organize Incoming Donations, And/or Help Register Our Clients Into Our Online System. Please Dress For The Weather As We Can Not Guarantee A Spot Indoors. Below Are Some Guidelines For Volunteers:
All Volunteer work must be scheduled in advance.
All Volunteers must be 14 years or older on the date they volunteer,
Some opportunities have lifting/standing requirements. Reasonable accommodations will be made for volunteers in need of assistance
Closed-Toe shoes are required while volunteering. Please wear comfortable and weather appropriate attire for all shifts
Hands Of Hope relies on the donation of time from volunteers to successfully get food to people in need. If you are unable to attend an event, please let the us know ASAP!.
Distribution Days are rain or shine events unless severe weather or extreme heat/cold is forecast.

Hands of Hope is a non-profit, community based organization. We are committed in providing an efficient and effective centralized system for distributing food to alleviate hunger. Our food drive for the needy is focused on sustaining good nutrition, health and most of all human dignity by providing a means for the individual to meet their full potential and to silence the pain hunger brings.
Description
In 1992 Hands of Hope, Inc. began to serve the community as a food pantry/soup kitchen and a limited clothes closet and today the program continues to function from St.James Church, Edison, NJ. Hands of Hope, Inc. is a non-profit (501)(c)(3) community based organization. Hands of Hope does not have a paid staff. We are committed to provide an efficient and effective system for distributing food to alleviate hunger in our community, one family at a time.
In March 2020 Hands Of Hope Inc. facing the onset of Covid-19 revamped it's operations to ensure the safety of our volunteers and clients. Hands Of Hope trainsitioned to a drive up model allowing our clients to stay in their cars while our dedicated volunteers placed the food in their car. This method streamlined the process and allowed Hands Of Hope to keep pace with the ever increasing demand. Throughout the pandemic, our generous supporters continued to keep our shelves filled and donated over $300,000 in.combinded monetary and in kind gifts.
