Program Description
We are seeking honest, reliable and dependable volunteers to provide companionship and friendship to seniors living alone in downtown Toronto. You will connect to seniors virtually or via phone call until in-person visit resumes.This volunteer position requires a minimum time commitment of up to two hours weekly.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for volunteers who are:
a. 18 years old or older;
b. willing to commit at least 6 months to a year;
c. comfortable spending time with seniors and adults with physical disabilities;
d. able to demonstrate good communication skills, and must possess qualities such as compassion, patience, and dependability.
Application requirements: Completion of an application form (it will be sent to you via email), in-person interview, reference checks, police screening, training.
COVID 19:
All volunteers are required to submit proof of vaccination.

We recruit and train volunteers who provide community programs and services such as friendly-visiting, medical and shopping escort, group socialization, and telephone reassurance.

Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers is a non-profit organization that improves quality of life, and reduces isolation and vulnerability among seniors and adults with physical disabilities, in the downtown Toronto community. We achieve this by providing friendly visiting programs, medical and shopping escort, telephone reassurance and group socialization with the support of our volunteers.
