The DC Independent Film Festival/ Forum runs February 12-17, 2025 and we would love you to take part in our dynamic team and make the event a success as we welcome filmmakers to DC, hold events, activities and parties and screen films in central Washington DC.
We are looking for two groups of stellar volunteers:
1) Event Volunteers Feb 12-17th to usher audiences, collect tickets, help out visiting filmmakers, and generally support the DCIFF team in action. This is front desk work and does involve some standing. No experience necessary, but enthusiasm for indie film, feeling comfortable helping guests and audience members and a general can-do attitude is best. All the screening locations are located in downtown DC. Visit www.dciff-indie.org or more info about the festival.
You will attend a 1-hour required virtual orientation prior to the festival. We will also have a volunteer meet and greet on Moniday December 9th in the evening and early January (get in touch for details).
Volunteers must be able to commit to at least 2 shifts during this period (each shift runs 4 hours). In exchange, you will receive a ticket for one film/seminar for each shift you work, can attend the opening and closing parties, and get a free t-shirt.
2) Longer Term Staff Volunteering: The DCIFF staff is mostly volunteer already and we very welcome people interested in taking on a preparation role starting in mid-January through to the festival. In these positions you are included on our Staff Page at the DCIFF website.
This requires about 8 hours commitment each week and you can sign up for and be trained in:
Filmmaker Relations: All aspects of supporting our filmmaker guests (3 positions)
Volunteer Coordinator: Someone who helps organize and support you and other volunteers (I position)
Film Ambassadors: Helping to develop the events and activities and outreach around specific films working with specific filmmakers (up to 8 positions)
Seminars and Workshops: Helping to build and run these educational events (2 positions)
DCIFF On the Hill Hearing in Congress: logistics, coordination
All longterm staff are expected to attend the events they are supporting and take part in the gneral energy of DCIFF over the 5 days of the event.
Many thanks from DCIFF!
