Recruiting Organization: Heurich House Museum
IN OUR 10TH YEAR, THE HEURICH HOUSE MUSEUM HAS A RENEWED MISSION AND UPDATED NAME FOR OUR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS MARKET. Our goal is to create a more equitable future for local small-scale entrepreneurs, who are historically women, people of color, and immigrants, and who have been affected deeply by the pandemic. This program is part of our core mission and is rooted in historic brewer Christian Heurich’s legacy of entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
In 2021 our annual market featured its most diverse group of vendors; 46% of vendors identify as being part of an underrepresented community. This year, the market featured its largest number of new vendors, including 37% of vendors in their first 5 years of business, which is the riskiest time for a small business.
CELEBRATING LOCAL MAKERS SINCE 1894... Craftsmanship and entrepreneurship are an important part of the museum’s history. The Heurich mansion was built by local artisans in 1894: August Grass, a German immigrant and local craftsman, carved the ornate fireplace mantels; local artists painted its ceiling canvases; Baltimore sculptor Hans Schuler made some of the fixtures in the Conservatory. The home was commissioned by local entrepreneur, brewer Christian Heurich. The Heurich House Museum’s Small Business Development Programs support and promote creative businesses throughout the year.
We're looking for volunteers to help out during shifts throughout the weekend! This is an outdoor holiday market.
If you're interested in volunteering, please email volunteer@heurichhouse.org! Thank you!
