Led by Dr. Manali Patel, our Partnerships to Advance Cancer Care group is providing veteran patients with cancer with health education resources to better assist them with advanced care planning and symptom management. This work is part of a quality improvement program, and we survey veteran patients about their care experiences. We also connect them with available resources.
We are seeking volunteers who can assist with conducting survey calls with patients to understand their satisfaction with care and any barriers they face to optimal cancer care. You should be confident making phone calls and engaging with diverse patients over the phone. We will provide training on how to conduct the surveys. This opportunity is on-site only, at the VA in Menlo Park (Monday-Thursday) or Palo Alto (Friday). Volunteers can select shift times during the hours of 8am-5pm Monday to Friday. Free parking is available at each site.
This opportunity is ideal for nursing or medical students, premed students, folks interested in public health or health services careers (including research), those with a personal connection to cancer, and retired health services folks looking to continue using their skills in a part-time volunteer capacity.
