ORGANIZATION: California State Parks Foundation

Help reduce the risk of wildfires by creating defensible space around the historic Thompson House! Volunteers will remove brush, soil, debris, and tall grasses from the area to create a 5-foot perimeter around the building. They will then fill the cleared space with decomposed granite. This will inhibit flame travel and create a noncombustible barrier around the foundation of the house. Ages 16 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is required to ensure volunteers receive important details on where to meet the group and what to bring. Please sign up on our webpage https://volunteer.calparks.org/
