Drive thru food bank for low income Seniors are invited.We set up tables and erupts at 9:50 at the center. Truck arrives with food around 10:15. Items are off loaded and sorted.
Volunteers sort food then pack food in boxes in assembly line set up. Once 20 boxes are ready the Food distribution starts around 10:30. The awaiting Seniors are pulled up and the food boxes are loaded in to the trunks. Clean up starts as soon as the table empty. We are usually finish by noon.

Serving Military families in Oceanside @ Melba Bishop Recreation Center Helping Hand Worldwide brings together individuals who are ready to make a difference and empowers them to create positive social change in their community. Helping Hand Worldwide’s mission is to relieve hunger on a daily basis and to improve the health and quality of life for our recipients by offering free access to wholesome, nutritious food. We build strong communities through volunteerism to decrease social isolation and depression among our recipients. We accomplish our goals through food distribution programs in conjunction with health and education advocacy. We also have an expanded service program for clients with special needs.
Description
We are a nonprofit that services military families in Oceanside California at the Melba Bishop center the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Tuesdays of the month. We are looking for assistance and set up, unloading food from trucks, sorting food, packing food into boxes, placing food boxes and goods into trunks. This food distribution is for low income military families in need.

- We will give you on-site training. Set up of food is done by weight. So we pack the heaviest items in the food boxes first. For example potatoes and onions go on the bottom of the box.
- We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for example the egg table does not require heavy lifting as well as the merchandise. This event is outside.
