- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
You and your fellow volunteers will participate in fun, hands-on conservation work led by staff from DNDA's Nature Team. Restoration work includes removing invasive plants, planting native species, and mulching new plantings, depending on the restoration progress in each site.
Long pants, warm and dry layers, closed-toed shoes and rain gear as needed. Bring a face covering to the event. If you forget a face covering, the event lead will have extras for you. Bring any water or snacks you might want during the volunteer event. For safety reasons, we will not be able to provide any refreshments. If you have your own pair of work gloves you are encouraged to bring them. Signed youth waiver form, if under 18.

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
