Are you looking to get more involved with your local community? Do you enjoy working with young people and children? Are you passionate about big issues affecting society today and building children's awareness and self-confidence to cope with the challenges if tomorrow?

If this sounds like you then Liseli Initiative needs you!!

We are inviting volunteers to come and be part of a great movement of change. Come and meet new people, make new friends, face new challenges, experience different cultures, help the needy and visit the Victoria Falls.

Get involved in our numerous projects such as;

1. Teaching children and adults basic English and numeracy in our community Literacy Clubs
2. Be an Assistant teacher in one of the Community schools we are in partnership with.
3. Make and distribute reusable sanitary pads to vulnerable women and girls.
4. Teach women and youths on financial literacy and entreprenuership.
5. Help take care of children at one of the local orphanages.
6. Participate in a community outreach program of feeding the elderly.

Liseli Initiative was founded in 2018 to empower marginalised youth with assertive and development skills to create a self-sustaining generation of young adults in Zambia.

Mission Statement

Empowering orphan, vulnerable children and the youth out of social marginalization, isolation and discrimination through income generating initiatives and provision of access to education for better resource management and control for improved quality of life.

Description

Liseli Initiative serves the vulnerable members of Livingstone Communities by empowering them in three major projects;

  1. Financial Literacy: We train our beneficiaries on basic financial knowledge of how to generate, invest, save and manage their finances
  2. Menstrual Hygiene: Liseli is supporting vulnerable women and girls with reusable sanitary pads. We make and distribute the pads to women and girls in the community.
  3. Skills Training: In collaboration with other local NGO's , Liseli is training young people in different skills such as fish farming, metal fabrication, tailoring, weaving and computer skills.
  4. Basic Literacy: We teach out of school children, women and men basic English speaking skills and numeracy. Most of the beneficiaries are school drop outs due to pregnancy and financial constraints.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Volunteers are expected to commit up-to 8 hours of work from Monday to Friday. Weekends are free for you to do any tourist activities or relax and plan for the coming week.
