Mission Statement

Our vision is that all children will have an opportunity to excel in school and career, and contribute fully to society.

Description

Located in the heart of this historic Los Angeles neighborhood, the VBGC has a rich history. For almost 70 years, our Club has provided a refuge for children who struggle daily with real life circumstances of poverty, under-resourced neighborhoods, low educational attainment, gang violence, substance abuse and poor health outcomes. The Club originally enrolled only boys, with a girls club adjacent to the main building, and was one of the first clubs nationally to integrate genders. In 2008, the Club opened a satellite club at Pueblo Del Sol less than two minutes away from the home site and within a public housing development administered by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles.
