Pikes Peak CERT Volunteers are members of an ongoing team effort year-round. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month but are not mandatory. Activities may include one or more or any combination of: providing public education about emergency preparedness to community groups, individuals, or organizations; advocacy for preparedness planning in neighborhoods; support of community events with first aid services and safety patrols; responding to disaster and large-scale emergency activations in support of the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management in the Emergency Coordination Center or other field assignments; staffing the public call center; providing administrative support to outreach efforts and team organization. Team members have the opportunity to attend advanced training courses in Emergency Management and related topics. Pikes Peak CERT serves all of El Paso County and the cities within, as well as the City of Colorado Springs.

Description
Pikes Peak CERT aspires to build a community better prepared for disasters, and to provide exemplary volunteer support for the region. Its volunteer members participate in public education and outreach activities, provide support to community events, and respond to assist the Pikes Peak Office of Emergency Management in disaster activations. Volunteers also attend regular training and exercises for personal and neighborhood readiness.

- Time commitment varies by individual. Team members are requested to participate a minimum of three activities per year. Regular, weekly volunteer hours are available or team members may choose activities as they arise throughout the year.
- Team members must complete the CERT Basic Training course, in person or hybrid. CERT training completed from other states is acceptable with certificate. Information on CERT Basic Training will be provided to anyone interested.
