We are the city's leading food pantry and are expecting to serve approximately 1,500 families for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. We will be packing and distributing groceries for this special 3-day drive-through pantry event and will need 15 volunteers each day for 6 hours. Volunteer for one, two or all three days!
Volunteers need to arrive promptly at 8:30am and park adjacent to our building (clients will line up across the street. Please do not park there). Dress for the weather - it may be chilly, so layered clothing is recommended. This is both an indoor and outdoor event where lifting and carrying food, boxes and bags that may weigh up to 15 pounds or more is required, as well as standing for long periods of time, and loading food into trunks and truck beds.
This is a great opportunity for groups to get involved in their community! Many companies offer VTO (Volunteer Time Off), check to see if your employer offers this perk to allow you to volunteer without affecting your paycheck.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS!
Your volunteerism is greatly appreciated. Arlington Charities and your neighbors in need thank you too!
