Spiritual care volunteers provide the comfort and companionship of a friendly visit, as well as support any spiritual needs during the patient’s end of life journey. Visits may be in patient homes or in facilities outside of Goodwin Living, and may include conversation or supportive presence.
Volunteers must understand the difference between religion and spirituality, and be able to provide spiritual guidance instead of giving advice. Volunteer must be comfortable reaching outside his or her own faith tradition to meet the spiritual needs of the hospice patient, whatever they may be. Must be available to visit a hospice patient once a week. Orientation and training will be provided.
