"I Gave My Sole for Parkinson’s" is Michigan Parkinson Foundation’s signature fundraising event. It is a Team / Pledge walking event that raises critical funds needed to bring support and help to those affected by Parkinson’s disease and their family members throughout ALL of Michigan. Whether you have Parkinson’s or have a loved one with Parkinson’s, "I Gave My Sole for Parkinson’s" Walk is a fun, family event.
The 2022 Grand Rapids Walk features your choice of either a quick loop or the "The Full Experience Loop" of 1.5 miles through the beautiful Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. There will also be entertainment, healthy snacks, exercise demonstrations, and a health fair exhibit. Participants have the option to walk and/or participate in the various Parkinson Exercise Demonstrations that will be taking place. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff remain our top priorities and we will continue to pay close attention to the State of Michigan and CDC Guidelines regarding COVID-19.

Through a strategic planning process, the following have been developed as guiding principles: Our Mission: To educate and provide support to people with Parkinson's and related disorders, their loved ones and care partners, and the physicians and other allied health professionals who diagnose and treat those affected by the illness. To support research into the mechanisms underlying the disease and therapeutic strategies aimed at reducing the burden of illness. To engage and enlist the support of institutions and individuals whose activities impact the needs of people with Parkinson's and related disorders. Our Goal: Every person with Parkinson's and related disorders shall receive responsive compassionate quality care and support.
Description
We are a non-profit organization that is looking for volunteers to help out in our office and also with our patient education programs, fundraisers (Walkathon) and for other events that may come up. There are over 37,000 people in the state of Michigan that have Parkinson's disease. We have 74 support groups throughout the state. We offer adult day care assistance, medications assistance, educational programs, and information and referrals.
We need help with assembling information packets, direct mail campaigns, data entry, online research. We are a small 7 person office in a nice office building with easy accessible parking.
