Purpose of Position
The vision of Wildlife Rescue Association of British Columbia is to continually improve the welfare of urban wildlife. Our mission is to provide leadership in rehabilitating wildlife and in promoting the welfare of wild animals in the urban environment.
We run a Wildlife Hospital located on a single site at the edge of Burnaby Lake. We treat over 6,000 wild birds and bats each year and provide public education through 30,000 calls to our Wildlife Helpline. Our Business Operations department plans, coordinates, and oversees all our programs including development, communications, resources and volunteering.
Each year, over 250 volunteers participate in a range of positions both on and off site. We are currently seeking a volunteer to plan, film, and edit videos for use in social media and fundraising campaigns.

Deliverables
The Videographer Volunteer is accountable to the Communications Coordinator for completion of assigned tasks and maintaining communication around the planning and execution of videos. The Communications Coordinator will provide ongoing support and constructive feedback.
The Videographer Volunteer is expected to ensure the highest standards of practice are achieved and maintained in accordance with the mission, vision and values of WRA, and to ensure adherence to all policies and legal requirements especially Health & Safety procedures.
The Videographer Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks:
* Lead one-time video projects
o Plan and direct small scale video shoots
o Write scripts as necessary
o Collect and edit video footage producing a completed product
* Content creation for social media
o Work with the Wildlife Hospital to film special wildlife cases on-site on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the time of year
o Work with the communications and hospital team to produce ideas for creative social media content
o Work with WRA staff and volunteers to organize the production of videos
o On occasion, attend the rescue and release of wildlife around Vancouver and the Lower Mainland
* Work with WRA program staff to create videos for educational and training purposes including volunteer eLearning modules

To provide leadership in rehabilitating wildlife and in promoting the welfare of wild animals in the urban environment.
Wildlife Rescue Association was established in 1979 to rehabilitate wildlife affected by human activity and provide education to the public on co-existing with urban wildlife. Before Wildlife Rescue was founded, there was no rehabilitation service for wildlife in Metro Vancouver and members of the public had nowhere to turn when they found an animal in distress. Thanks to the determination of a small band of volunteers, a small rehabilitation centre was established at the Nature House on the north side of Burnaby Lake.
Today, Wildlife Rescue runs its wildlife hospital on the south shore of Burnaby Lake where it treats animals from around the province of BC. Since 1979 we have treated more than 100,000 animals. Metro Vancouver is developing rapidly and animals living in the urban environment face many challenges such as busy roads, loss of habitat, pollution, pet predation, poisoning, unsecured garbage and direct human cruelty. With a team of professional wildlife rehabilitators and an army of volunteers we are able to provide temporary refuge to a diverse range of animals. We are not a wildlife sanctuary and once the animals in our care are healthy and ready to live in the wild, we release them back to their natural habitat.
Our public education and outreach includes a wildlife helpline, as well as presentations and displays throughout Greater Vancouver. 80% of our funds come through donations and without support from the public, local business and the wider community, none of the work we do would be possible.
