About NO MORE UNDER

Location:

1100 BELLEVUE WAY NE STE 8A # 563, BELLEVUE, WA 98004, US

Mission Statement

No More Under is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on water safety awareness and drowning prevention. We are dedicated to saving lives through sharing water safety education, and increasing equitable access to swimming lessons and tools. Drowning is preventable and we are working hard to prevent it.

Description

In August 2018, No More Under's Founder and Executive Director, Chezik Tsunoda, lost her three-year-old son, Yori, to a drowning accident. Despite the loss of a child being overwhelming, Chezik has found a purpose through the pain with the creation of No More Under.

In the United States, drowning is the primary cause of accidental death for children ages 1-4 years old and the second highest reason for accidental deaths in teenagers. Lack of water safety education, swimming skills, and tools such as life jackets are some reasons approximately 3,500 children will die as a result of drowning, annually. Additionally, 67% of Black children have little to no swimming ability and are up to five times more likely to drown than their white counterparts.

We have three major initiatives:
Learn-to-Swim Programs: Our learn-to-swim programs remove financial barriers for socio-economically disadvantaged families by covering the cost of their lessons, swimsuits, and travel. We started in March of this year and have supported 116 children thus far.

Life Jacket Loaner Stations: The cost life jackets perpetuate financial barriers. We are building permanent life jacket loaner stations to support free, limitless access to life jackets at beaches.

Education: We spread awareness and educate thousands of individuals about the importance of water safety through our social media channels and community engagement where we give away water safety flyers, water watcher badges, and life jackets.
