We have volunteer opportunities available at PCs for People- Greater Saint Louis to bridge the digital divide in underserved communities!
*We are ADA-compliant and can accommodate volunteers with assistive devices.
Warehouse Support:
Tasks could include testing monitors, testing keyboards, heavy lifting as able, using a pallet jack, sorting electronics, cleaning monitors, testing electronics, taking apart electronics, warehouse cleaning, pallet packing, etc. Volunteers may sort through donations, process desktops and laptops, and perform functionality tests on products. Volunteers will work side by side with our warehouse and technician teams, and will learn about internal processes for refurbishment. No technology experience/expertise is necessary for this volunteer position.
Guidance and direction will be provided by an employee to support you during your volunteer time.
Skills you may learn in this role could include: OSHA Compliance, Warehouse management, warehouse operations, pallet jack, freight packing, surplus shipping, packaging, electronic recycling practices, electronic deconstruction, computer processing standards
Computer Technician Support:
Tasks could include sorting chargers and RAM (which requires reading very fine print) or scrapping laptops. Guidance and direction will be provided by a computer tech to support you during your volunteer time.
Skills you may learn in this role could include: Computer assembly, computer destruction, Imaging, Program Installation, Model Matching, Battery Testing, Processor Stress Testing, Power Supply Matching

PCs for People is a national nonprofit social enterprise working to get low-cost, quality computers and internet into the homes of individuals, families, and nonprofits with low income. By recycling and then refurbishing computers, PCs for People provides a valuable service to businesses, families, and the planet by keeping computers out of landfills and repurposing them to advance digital inclusion.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 16
- Orientation or Training
- Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday between 10:00am-4:00pm. Shifts generally last 4 hours (1/2 day) but we are flexible to work with your availability.
- Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes. Dress code is casual. No loose-fitting clothing that may snag on objects or equipment.
