We are seeking veterans and individuals who have experience with the veteran population to help build and manage our We Honor Veterans Program.
We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The following are some examples of veteran patient assignments:
* Participating in veteran pinning ceremonies
* Offering support through regular companionship visits
* Making assurance phone calls
* Recording patient’s life history
* Reminiscing
* Sitting with veteran patient while caregiver leaves
Service Areas: Alleghany, Rock Bridge, Nelson, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Campbell, Montgomery, Pulaski, Floyd, Franklin, Henry, Pittsylvania

Description
Hospice care is a specialized care that focuses on supporting you and your loved ones during an advanced illness. The emphasis is on comfort and quality of life, rather than finding a cure. Hospice care enables you to live each day to the fullest as comfortably and dignified as possible.
