Are you looking to volunteer at AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport but can't make the drive out? Then HOT dog, and cat's, do we have a need for you. We have two teams that can volunteer virtually from their home or anywhere in which an internet, computer, and/or phone are present. Both of these teams play an integral role in ensuring the cats/dogs are adopted in a timely manner. Those two opportunities are:
Application Pre-Verification Team - The volunteers on this team will use their computer to verify newly submitted applications for either adoption or fostering. You will use multiple resources in an effort to confirm the validity of the application. This can be accomplished any time of the day/night.
Application Phase II Verification Team - The volunteers on this team go one step beyond the Pre-Verification team and will need to be available during core business hours Mon-Sat. You will contact landlords, Vet's, and other individuals in which we need to obtain information not provided on the application.
Home Visit Team - The volunteers on this team will use their computer, tablet, or phone with video capabilities to conduct Virtual home visits for anyone interested in adopting or fostering. You will take a virtual tour of the individuals home, ensuring any requirements for the animal are met (i.e. a secure fence). You will not be responsible for saying no/yes to the adoption but will be the eyes and ears of the rescue.

We are committed to saving homeless companion animals, assisting other shelters/rescues through rescue transports, offering in-home training to keep dogs in their current homes, and educating the public on the issues of pet overpopulation, responsible pet ownership and puppy mills.
AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport, Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit, foster-based animal rescue organization, headquartered in De Soto, IA. We are a unique rescue organization in that we exist mainly to bridge the gap between traditional animal shelters and no-kill rescues in 2 different ways: 1) By providing free transportation for dogs from traditional shelters to no-kill rescues all over the Midwest and Canada. We also provide overnight rest stops for our furry travelers and temporary housing for those whose time has run out at the shelters, but have to wait for a foster spot to open up in one of the rescues; 2) By pulling dogs out of traditional shelters that are on death row and placing them in foster homes and forever homes thru our organization.
