Hart 2 Heart has cats staying at local pet stores while waiting for their forever homes. We need volunteers who are interested in spending time with these cats and perform some housekeeping tasks related to their care. You will be required to scoop and replace litter, clean food bowls, replenish food and water, perform housecleaning on the cage, and, most importantly, pet and play with cats. You will also promote the cats to potential adopters. This rewarding opportunity is essential for the wellbeing of animals hoping to be adopted, providing socialization to them, and giving them time out of their cages and able to stretch their legs.

We have flexible schedules and provide training. Shifts are available 7 days a week, mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Volunteers between the ages 14 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

About HART 2 HEART ANIMAL RESCUE

Location:

PO BOX 15323, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19111, US

Mission Statement

At Hart 2 Heart, our focus is on helping animals in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties. We nurture abused, abandoned, and unwanted animals so they can be adopted into safe, loving, and secure homes. When needed, we provide a safe haven where animals that are not adopted can live out their lives safely and peacefully in foster care. At the heart of what we do is our commitment to rescue, foster and find great homes for animals in need of a second chance. We have been dedicated to this goal since 2017 and are forever grateful to the volunteers, fosters and adopters who share our vision to give all animals a safe and happy home. We also work to educate the community on the importance of humane animal treatment and practices that reduce animal suffering.

Description

The Hart 2 Heart story begins over 30 years ago when founders Sharon and Michael were living parallel lives doing animal rescue. They were both called to help a woman with a dog named Precious, and a situation involving feral cats. What started out as doing TNR soon turned into the rescue and adoption of hundreds of animals.

Hart 2 Heart works to keep animals out of shelters by finding those adoptable animals the best of forever homes where loving hearts are joined together. For the animals who may not be adoptable, or are special needs pets,we are devoted to getting them where they need to be, whether it is with a foster family, or whether they remain lifelong residents of the Rescue.

Sharon, Mike and the many volunteers of Hart 2 Heart strive to leave no animal behind, continually working towards that goal. This includes securing adoptions, as well as assisting pet parents with pet retention in their homes.
