Mission Statement
The Bayside Historical Society was founded in 1964 to discover, preserve and educate the community with knowledge of the history and heritage of Bayside, Queens, New York and its environs. Located in an 1887 NYC landmark which is on the National Register of Historic Places, the site is a museum whose continuing preservation is a part of our mission statement.
Description
Consistent with our mission, unique historical educational programs are provided for the local schools throughout the school year. The museum is open to the community Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12pm to 4pm. Art exhibits, local history exhibits, concerts, author talks, cultural evenings, and community meetings are all a part of the annual calendar. The museum is located in an NYC waterfront park in an historic district which is part of a former US Army installation complete with Civil War battlements.
