As the season changes, what a great time to consider how you can change a life. This autumn, we invite you to Fall into Service with the American Red Cross by volunteering.

Disaster Workforce Engagement Team

The Disaster Workforce Engagement Team is responsible for welcoming new volunteers and ensure they have an excellent experience joining the Disaster Cycle Services department. This team provides relevant orientation information, ensures volunteers are successful engaged with chosen activity and advocates for volunteer advancement into leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Greets new Disaster Cycle Services volunteers to the department, providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensures new volunteers are welcomed and provided with relevant on-boarding information, including: orientation, training information, meeting calendar, engagement opportunities, department structure and contact information.
  • Provides consultation and training resources to promote positive workforce relationships and effective ongoing volunteer engagement.
  • Consults with department Activity Leads regarding the leadership potential of volunteers and support advancement opportunities for volunteers.
  • Serves as the point of contact for reassignment within department, or if not a fit for the department, to Volunteer Services.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic about Red Cross mission and programs
  • Excellent customer service skills on the phone, over email and in person
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse audiences
  • Work well both individually and as a team
  • Skilled in working with computers, phones, email and online databases.
  • Relationship building skills working collaboratively with staff partners, volunteers, and Chapter leadership.
  • Understand the value of volunteers and provide support to ensure volunteers have a mutually rewarding experience

Time Commitment

5-10 hours per week, on-site at Chapter office or remotely. More hours available, if desired.
