Ele's Place is a nonprofit, community-based organization with a mission to create awareness of and support for grieving children and their families serving families from Washtenaw County and surrounding areas. Through peer support group programs, Ele's Place helps children and caregivers to cope with the death of a parent, sibling or other close family member or friend.

Ele's Place is a warm and welcoming environment that serves as a community resource for children and their families to receive grief support. Children and families learn coping skills, process their grief, and receive peer support by being around others who really understand how they feel.

The children who participate in these groups range in age from 3 - 18. They come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, but all are grieving the death of a person. Through the Ele's Place peer support group program, these children have the opportunity to grieve in a healthy manner and learn how to cope with the many challenges and changes in their lives following their loss. Play is an important and essential part of healing and expression.

We are seeking compassionate people of diverse backgrounds to volunteer as greeters and activity room volunteers in our children's bereavement support group program in Ann Arbor. Volunteers must be 19 years old, able to commit to one year of service, and willing to complete the volunteer training program. Activity Room Volunteers welcome families into our center as they arrive for evening groups, facilitate planned activities designed to support expressions of grief and healing, and support children and teens through the grieving process.

We are excited to announce our Summer 2023 Volunteer Training! The details are as follows:

  • Tuesday August 13, 3:00PM-5:00PM
